After losing my job at GE, I went home and cried. I had just graduated from IUS and I was going to "Climb the Corporate ladder" but life threw me a curveball. 

The next morning I knew that I had to figure out a way to keep my home and car that I had just purchased 3 months prior to getting let go. So, I decided to go back to serving at restaurants, as that's what I did for about 15 years, and  that I would get some roommates like I had done  back in college.

 

While enrolled at IUS, I rented a house out and got a few college roommates.  After they all gave me a portion of their rent, I was practically living rent free! I maybe had to come up with 25 to 50 dollars every month, so a light bulb didn't go off in my head because I was not making any money.

This go around, it wasn’t college roommates that I had, but actual working adults that could afford a higher rent price.  After about 3 months, I realized that I wasn’t only paying my mortgage which included taxes and insurance, but I was also paying all of the house bills and making about $150 dollars a month in profit! So a light bulb went off in my head this time and I asked myself, what if I can find a property with more bedrooms that doesn’t cost as much as my house did?  

I am now at a total of 62 CoLiving units, and on course to double in size in the next 12 months!
